One Spring trend I’m so happy to see come back again is gingham! I can’t get enough of this picnic-like print, so when I found this ruffled mini skirt at Forever 21 for $14.90, I knew I had to get it. Gingham is pretty much a staple in my closet right now, and pairing things with it can be so easy! These are some of my favorite gingham pieces right now. Definitely thinking I need to add a gingham jumper to the mix!
I chose to go with a vintage band tee for this look. We’re not talking Rolling Stones kinda band tee, but a vintage high school band tee. It was a $10 find on my trip to Louisville from a local place called The Vintage Banana. I love that it’s from my favorite era – the 70s, and is a high school band tee! Really brings me back to my marching band years haha. The red and yellow contrasting colors of the tee give the outfit a tom-boy vibe, which I’m loving at the moment. Otherwise, Gingham is so versatile, and I love styling it in different ways.
I’ve styled this skirt in a more feminine way, emphasizing the girly ruffles. This time, I chose comfort and effortlessness with this vintage tee. I’m always on the lookout for vintage tees, and the best places to look for them are vintage and thrift stores. If you can manage to find one at a thrift store, it’s like striking a gold mine! So I typically resort to looking in vintage stores as they’re easier to find. Ebay and Etsy are also great places to score some vintage tees at a low price, or for vintage inspired tees!
With this tom-boy vibe I’ve been feeling lately, I’ve opted for comfortable (but oh so cute!) sneakers over heels. I haven’t invested in a pair of sneakers for probably 4 years, so this is saying something. I cannot get enough of these black suede and leather sneakers that I added into my wardrobe a few months back. I’ve gotten so much use out of them, and honestly, I feel like I owe my feet an apology for not getting some sooner. A classic black sneaker is now a must in my closet! I slip them on to run errands in yoga pants, or with a skirt or dress in the warmer months to dress down an outfit. These I purchased from Saks Off Fifth on sale for $20, and may be the best $20 investment I’ve made for my closet in a while!
