The holidays are HERE! Well, they’ve been here… but now that I’ve gotten all my presents wrapped, my decorations up, and have had my fair share of spiked hot cocoa, it’s really hitting me that Christmas is just 4 days away! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday because everything just feels so magical and festive. And getting dressed every day during the holidays is usually inspired by this general air of festive-ness for me. It’s the time of year to reflect about everything you have in your life to be thankful for, and most of all CELEBRATE!
And celebrating to me means pulling out all the amazing holiday inspired pieces I’ve waited all year long to style! If there’s ever been a time to wear those fully sequined dresses and velvet numbers, it’s now. Being a little extra for all those holiday parties is what I LIVE for during this season! Vintage and thrift stores are the perfect place to find all your holiday wear, so this season I’ve been on the hunt for holiday wear in the forms of:
- Sequins, Brocade, Sparkles, OH MY! – My holiday mantra, “sequins are the reason for the season”. Ha!, But really, sequins are all over the thrift store, and super easy to find because they stand out on the racks! Sparkles are the easiest holiday inspired look, and are trendy every holiday season. I already can’t wait to wear this skirt next year!
- Jewel Tones – The winter months call for mixing jewel tones. I’ve loved mixing dark purples, emeralds, and blues (especially in anything velvet!) during these holidays! Focusing on finding colors at the thrift store can be an quick way to pick out these items.
- Over Accessorize – As y’all know I love gigantic earrings any time of year, but the holidays are the perfect season to over accessorize with costume jewelry you might not wear every day. I’m an earring kind of gal, but also love wearing festive socks with heels, jeweled rings, and layering on the necklaces! Why not throw on a vintage hat or turban while you’re at it!
- Statement Pieces – Let’s be real, I make a statement in basically everything I wear. In fact, most of my closet is based on statement pieces because they’re so easy to make outfits around. Make a classy holiday look by styling velvet trousers and a statement ruffle blouse like this one below!
My holiday look I wore recently to my office Christmas Party was everything I’ve been looking for in one outfit! Sparkles, big jewelry, and an over-the-top sweater! I recently thrifted this sparkly, multicolored vintage skirt for $2.50 on a Goodwill 50% off day (which I’m still in shock over!), and knew it would be the perfect addition to my holiday line up! On top I paired a one shoulder sweater with an exaggerated ruffle. It’s really the perfect combo of comfy and sexy (aka a work Christmas party)! And no outfit is complete without BIG, ex-tra, earrings. So to top off my outfit (and my Christmas tree), I wore these vintage star drop down earrings. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday! I am thankful for the people who have supported me through my blog, and look forward to another year. And don’t forget to make a statement this holiday season!
